A delegation  from the city of Bremen (Germany) composed of teachers, officials of schools and multimedia administration are visiting this week (8-9 March) the city of Helsinki (Finland). The aim of this visit is related to the establishment of a new school in Bremen this year, focussing among others, on multilingualism, mathematics and ICT-based learning.

Helsinki is known to be an example in the educational field, due to its high standards and the use of innovative technologies, and therefore a great model to take after. The new school in Bremen aims to offer an original approach to education in the 3rd millenium and in this direction, the city would like to make it an example of good practice of the classrooms of the future.

 

This visit shows once again the strong relation between the GCD-members, who support each other in diverse and cutting-edge projects.

On behalf of all GCD members, we would like to send our sincere thoughts to the citizens of Chile, who unfortunately experienced on 27 February an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8

 

Our hearts are with them and the families who lost dear persons, and we hope that Chile will manage to recover soon from this natural disaster!

A new project will start under the GCD umbrella, launched by the city of Luxembourg. This initiative is directed towards the Cape Verde Islands (Africa), aiming at fostering the digital solidarity.

We would like to inform you on a joint Survey prepared by eForum in collaboration with Politech Institute and GCD, on the use of multimedia screen in the communication with citizens.

 

It addresses the Local Authorities and refers to the multimedia screen as:

1. It can become a new interesting area for innovative services for Local and/or Regional authorities;

2. Industry sector would like to better understand potential needs from Local and/or Regional authorities.
