Steering Committee Meeting in Spring 2010
A call for application in hosting the 1^st GCD Steering Committee Meeting (SCM) in 2010 has been launched during the General Assembly Meeting in Helsinki. All GCD-cities and observer members are invited to participate and present their candidature as hosting city/institution for the organization of this event, which should be held in Spring 2010. The date will be approved jointly.
Please find below a list of criteria to be considered for the candidature:
- The SCM will gather all members of the Steering Committee of GCD (14 cities, including the partner organizations as observer members). The direct involvement of the Mayor (or High Political Representative) of the hosting city/institution should be guaranteed, at least for welcoming the guests with an opening speech;
- The Steering Committee Meeting shall be embedded in a two-day event (or 1,5 days), including also a preparatory meeting at the sherpas' level (sherpas' meeting), a gala dinner and an optional programme providing an overview on innovative applications and best-practices of the hosting city. An official signatory ceremony of the Helsinki Declaration shall be also organized;
- The Organization Committee should be coordinated by a person appointed by the city/institution (sherpa), who will be responsible for the logistics and will regularly liaise with the GCD Secretariat and with the other sherpas of the Steering Committee, in order to clear all details (programme, social events, facilities reserved to the HPRs, accommodation, pick-up service, optional programme, etc.);
- The catering costs (incl. the pick-up service from and to the airport) should be considered by the hosting city/institution. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the participants themselves;
- The applicant cities/institutions should make an expression of interest by indicating their motivation and their commitment in the field of the Information Society and within GCD.
