Three-day Internet & live sessions in Issy-les-Moulineaux and Paris

Mayor Santini and Chairman of the Global Cities Dialogue just closed the World e-Gov Forum 2010 at the Microsoft Centre in Issy-les-Moulineaux.

As every year since its creation in 2000, the "WeGF" welcomed government officials, representatives of local authorities and ICT experts debating publicly live or via Telepresence on the innovative use of ICT in public services and citizens’ participation. This year’s event took place under the high-patronage of Mrs. Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, French State Secretary in charge of Forward Planning, Assessment of Public Policies and Development of the Digital Economy.

Some of the event's sessions were broadcasted live as the "Agile governments" held on Wednesday, 13 October and friendly supported by Cisco. This session was about a world tour of the best agile government practices introduced via TelePresence. From North America to India through Europe: how IT have made some public services more efficient with less resources?

The auditions of the finalists for the e-Democracy Awards 2010 for instance took place on Thursday, 14 October in the multimedia room of the City Hall of Issy-les-Moulineaux. Each candidate had around fifteen minutes to present his/her motivations and achievements in front of a jury of experts.

After each audition, the jury members cast their votes via an electronic voting system, based on three criteria ranked from 1 to 10: the originality of the system presented, its transferability and the estimated impact on the citizen engagement in the public life. The total score allowed to determine the winners in all three categories: International, European and French. Detlev Goetz, city of Luxembourg, was part of the jury as representative of the Global Cities Dialogue.

The winners of the e-democracy Awards 2010 are online!

On Friday, 15 October from 10.30 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. the discussion focussed on "Cloud computing, Evolution or Revolution". The debate is still going on among analysts, but everyone agrees on the renewal potential that cloud computing represents. Boosting innovation, savings, more agility and offering new services to citizens. It scrutinised in a new and accurate way the problems of security, sovereignty, reversibility and locking of the data. This session was organised in partnership with Microsoft.
