Further to the GCD Spring Summit held at the end of May, the Sherpas of the GCD-Steering Committee will meet at the GCD headquarters in Brussels on 20 July to discuss the implementation of the activities and issues discussed by the Mayors and High Political Representatives who attended the Summit in Diegem.
The invitation of Commissioner Kroes to work with GCD as a digital partner of the European Commission will be followed up during the sherpas meeting: the Mayors and High Political Representatives of the Steering Committee will propose a series of actions and recommendations to be addressed to the European Commission and in particular to the DG Information Society and Media led by Mr. Robert Madelin.
According to the statutes of the organisation, the General Assembly elects every two years a new Steering Committee composed of the Chair city, the Overall Vice-chair city, the Vice-chair cities for the regions as well as the Treasurer and a handful of member cities committed to giving direction to the organisation. The new Steering Committee will be elected for the period of November 2010 – November 2012.
