Can digital technologies bring a new image to Culture? Can they help us have a different look on the historical patrimony of our cities and villages? Can they actually help to better spread knowledge? Come and take part in the European workshop “Culture 2.0” on Friday 24 June at the City Hall of Issy-les-Moulineaux (Paris, France), in the presence of Mr André Santini, Mayor of Issy-les-Moulineaux, Mr Stéphane Distinguin, President of the festival Futur en Seine and Mr Jean-Pierre Euzen, Head of Sector Living Labs at the European Commission.

The various new technologies (the 3D, the augmented reality, the QR codes, the serious games and the social networks) and their use on smartphones are today object of many cultural experiments to assess users’ interest and engagement associated with it. Discovering a page of Issy-les-Moulineaux’s history using smartphones, 3D models, QR codes and cross media, covering the renovation of Manchester Central Library by web-reporters or creating a serious game to raise young visitors’ interest in the Museum of contemporary art of Antwerp… These are the use case scenarios of an e-Participation experiment in the framework of the European project APOLLON (Advanced Pilots of Living Labs Operating in Networks), whose purpose is to pilot an integrated experiment dealing with the role of 3D technologies, QR codes, augmented reality, social networking and serious gaming on various cultural usages. But beyond all these examples, numerous cities and cultural organizations have already taken steps in this direction.

Organized in the framework of Futur en Seine, a French festival for digital life and creativity, the workshop will bring together EU project APOLLON's e-Participation pilot cities representatives, European Commission representatives, as well as local government and innovative companies representatives to make a status point on the current digital cultural initiatives.
